CleanClac vs Turno: Which Cleaning Tool to Choose?

Cleaning between bookings is often the number one source of stress for a host: who is coming, when, with which checklist, and how can you check everything is spotless without being there? Two specialist apps address this need: Turno, the US pioneer formerly known as TurnoverBnB, and CleanClac, a European app designed for hosts and property managers. Both automate cleaning scheduling from your booking calendars, but they make different choices when it comes to proof, team management, and pricing. Here’s an honest, feature-by-feature comparison.

Two tools, one mission: automate cleaning between stays

Let’s start with what both apps have in common. Turno and CleanClac are built on the same insight: cleaning rotations can no longer be managed by SMS and spreadsheets. Both offer the same core features:

• Calendar sync with Airbnb, Booking, Vrbo: every guest departure automatically triggers a scheduled clean.
• Assignment to a cleaner (called “cleaner” on Turno) with mobile notification.
• Checklists to structure the job room by room.
• Integrated messaging between manager and cleaner.

Turno claims over 9.7 million cleans completed via its platform (self-reported on turno.com), making it one of the most established players in the sector. CleanClac is newer and plays a different card: operational depth (timestamped proof, stock management, secure access codes) and team-friendly pricing. These differences are where your choice will really be made.

Calendar sync: iCal for everyone, PMS for the pros

Both products are strong on platform connectivity, so it’s a close match here.

Turno imports calendars from Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com and any platform via a generic iCal link, plus Google Calendar and Outlook. Its real strength: over 40 direct PMS integrations (Guesty, Hostaway, Hospitable, Lodgify, OwnerRez, Smoobu, iGMS, etc.), listed on its integrations page. If you use an international PMS, the connector probably exists.

CleanClac covers iCal sync with Airbnb, Booking and Vrbo (a guest departure creates a clean at the property’s default slot) and offers direct PMS connectors for Beds24, Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify, Smoobu and SuperHote. The list is shorter, but includes SuperHote, widely used in France, and Beds24, popular with independent European hosts. Checklists and cleaning proof: the clearest difference

This is where the philosophies really diverge.

Checklists

Turno offers photo checklists: task lists illustrated with photos, which the cleaner ticks off and documents. It’s efficient and popular with users.

CleanClac provides illustrated checklists per property, built from a catalogue of around 200 tasks organised by section: cleaning, finishing touches, linen, restocking, comfort and guest extras. Each property has its own checklist, and the cleaner works through it visually, task by task. For a manager wanting to standardise quality across several properties, this ready-made catalogue saves hours of setup.

Proof

Both tools offer end-of-cleaning photos, but not with the same level of guarantee.

With CleanClac, proof of completion is based on photos or video timestamped by the server, with digital file fingerprint and GPS location. In practice: neither the cleaner nor the manager can backdate or swap an image. In case of a dispute with a guest over cleanliness, or between a manager and their contractor, this traceability settles arguments. Added to this are on-site GPS check-in, actual cleaning duration with a “Overtime” flag if the estimate is exceeded, and a property condition rating on arrival (1 to 5 stars) given by the cleaner.

With Turno, photo checklists serve as visual proof of completion, which covers most needs, but the company does not mention server-side timestamping or systematic GPS fingerprinting.

Team and recruitment: mature marketplace vs unlimited free team members

Finding someone

Turno’s historic strength is its cleaner marketplace: over 126,000 short-term rental cleaners claimed worldwide (turno.com). The host posts a job, local cleaners apply with a quote, and the host chooses based on reviews from other hosts. In the US, marketplace cleaners undergo a background check. Density is highest in the US market; outside the US, it varies by area, with no official list of covered countries.

CleanClac offers a “Find a cleaner” feature near the property, free of charge, with a radius in kilometres. It’s a similar logic, on a younger, Europe-focused scale.

Managing your team

This is the other key difference. With CleanClac, team members are unlimited and free, for life: you pay per property, never per team member. A property manager running 10 cleaners and 3 seasonal backups pays not a penny more, and the Manager role lets you delegate a group of properties to a sector manager. With Turno, cleaners use the app without a subscription and co-host accounts are free; however, a property becomes billable as soon as an “external” cleaner (not from the marketplace) is assigned.

Verdict: Turno is best for fast recruitment in the US; CleanClac is best for structuring an existing team in Europe with no per-person cost.

Payments, stock, access: complementary features

Each tool has features the other doesn’t.

What Turno does that CleanClac doesn’t: integrated automatic payments. Turno pays cleaners in-app via Stripe, in 26 currencies, with autopay, tips and bonuses. For a host wanting everything handled in one place, it’s a real comfort. Caveats: card fees apply, low-cost ACH transfers are US-only, and a 5% commission is charged to cleaners for marketplace jobs (fee details).

What CleanClac does that Turno doesn’t highlight:

• Consumable stock management per property: product-level stock and threshold alerts, so you never discover there’s no toilet paper at 4pm on a Saturday. Turno lets cleaners report consumable levels, but without structured property-level tracking.
• Access code vault: key box codes, door codes and instructions sent only to the day’s cleaner, and only to them. No more codes floating around on WhatsApp.

Pricing: two billing models you need to understand

The billing models differ, so compare them for your real-life setup.

Turno (USD prices from turno.com/pricing as of August 2026): free for 1 property, and free for unlimited properties if you work exclusively with cleaners found via the Turno marketplace. As soon as you add your own external cleaners to 2 or more properties, it’s $10/month per property (or $96/year, i.e. $8/month). Depending on your usage, add card payment fees and the 5% marketplace commission for cleaners: the real cost depends a lot on your setup.

CleanClac: free first property, with no card and no time limit, then a single price per property: €9.99/month for 2 properties, €14.99 for 3-4, €19.99 for 5, then +€4 per property beyond that (annual: €59.99, €89.99, €119.99, then +€24 per property). • you are based in the US or Canada, where the marketplace is densest and integrated payments work best;

CleanClac is an excellent choice if:

• you are in Europe with your own team and don’t want to pay per member: team members are unlimited and free;
